Conscious Completions

Conscious Completions

— Dr. Deborah Gordon

“In my end is my beginning.

T.S. Eliot

Honourable closure and conscious completions are mindful ways of tending to whatever is ending in our lives so we can live better in the present moment and not lose precious energy to unfinished business from our past. When we complete one thing with awareness and gratitude, we’re freed to move into our next new beginning with a clean fresh energy.

Join Dr. Deborah and the full band of Sista B and the Boyz on March 13th in person at the Mary Irwin Theatre* inside the Rotary Centre for the Arts! Pre-service music will start around 10:15am, with the main service starting at 10:30am PT.

*The theatre requires attendees to show their vaccine card.

Remember to set your clocks forward the night before for daylight savings time!

We will do our best to livestream this service from the venue at 10:30am PT on Facebook Live, YouTube and the home page of our website.

Tune in early at 10:20am to hear the music of New Thought musician, Amber Darland.

This Week’s Science of Mind Theme

A Spoonful of Humour is the Medicine

Healing ourselves (mind, body and heart) is one of the biggest reasons we come together to study metaphysics. Humour and joy bring a lightness into our lives that facilitates healing on a whole new level.

In the Declaration of Principles, Ernest Holmes wrote:

“We believe that the Universal Spirit, which is God, operates through a Universal Mind, which is the Law of God; and that we are surrounded by this Creative Mind which receives the direct impress of our thought and acts upon it. We believe in the healing of the sick through the power of this Mind. We believe in the control of conditions through the power of this Mind.”

How can we help people heal? Ernest Holmes said:

“We heal thoughts not people. The Spiritual Person is never sick. Spiritual healing consists of changing psychological thought patterns.”

In addition to the traditional “change your thinking, change your life” methods, we can embrace joy! Choosing to laugh daily, really belly laugh, literally changes the mind and body. According to the NeuroLeadership Institute, “laughing swaps the cortisol in our bloodstream with highly sought-after chemicals in the brain: dopamine, oxytocin and endorphins.” Dopamine, in particular, enhances learning, motivation, and attention. In other words, it helps us embody the changes in thinking and behaviour we seek to make permanent. Whether it’s laughter yoga, stand-up comedy, a funny movie or a chat with your funniest friend, laughter really is the medicine.

Set Your Clocks Forward for the In-Person Service!

We will be together again for an in-person service at the Mary Irwin Theatre in the Rotary Centre for the Arts (RCA) on March 13th. Please RSVP on the In-Person Sunday Celebration event page if you would like to attend.

Please note that the theatre in the RCA requires all attendees to show their BC Vaccine Card. The service will also be livestreamed on Facebook Live, YouTube and the home page of our website.

THIS SUNDAY: Open House at the Peace Centre

If you’d like the opportunity to say an informal, personal goodbye to our Pandosy Peace Centre, which has been our classroom and office space for the last 21 years, you’re invited to head over to 2490 Pandosy Street (corner of Pandosy and Morrison) on March 13th right after our in-person service at the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Drs. Deb and Kenn will be there to open the doors, greet you and do a little reminiscing as you say your farewell to this space that has held such wisdom, love, and has been such a wonderful home base for us over these many years. See more details on the Open House event page.

Releasing Ceremony

We’ll also be having a more formal farewell and Releasing Ceremony on Saturday, March 26th at 10:30am at the Peace Centre. This will be conducted by Dr. Nadene Rogers. Dr. Nadene is creating a special ceremony for us as a group to facilitate our conscious closure of the Peace Centre. She’ll create a special opportunity for us to say a tender and heartfelt thank you and goodbye to our building. We’d love to see you there. Conscious endings create a beautiful fresh energy for wonderful new beginnings of our next greater yet-to-be. We hope you can join us.
