Sunday, August 25

Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll…. and $$$$$

Rev. Barbara Samuel

“Wealth is the product of a person’s capacity to think.”  - Ayn Rand

The month of August has been laced with forbidden fruits.  We have been leaning into topics often avoided during a Sunday service.  This week Soul Food Sunday wraps up the month of “Unstatus Quo” with a pretty bow dipped with flavours of sex, drugs, Rock & Roll and let’s not forget the $$$$$!!!

Recently, I was at a gig (a musical performance for those newbies to Rock & Roll lingo). An individual approached me and said, “Can I talk to you?”  “Sure”.  I said, “We can talk about anything”.  In fact, if you know me even a little, you know that I’ll talk to anyone about anything, any time.  I had no idea that my willingness to be open would completely change my life...and his!

I’ll tell you the rest of this story on Sunday.

There are no accidents or mistakes in the grand tapestry of existence, as everything is an expression of the One Mind. From this perspective, the body, mind, spirit, and soul that each individual possesses are perfectly designed to fulfill their unique purpose in the world.

There is a Divine Intelligence at work, orchestrating the intricacies of each person's being to support their personal growth, self-discovery, and the fulfillment of their soul's journey.

While external appearances or societal judgments may label certain aspects of ourselves, the spiritual truth is that these perceptions do not define our inherent worth, value or potential.

Rather, every individual's journey is precisely what is needed for their personal evolution and the contribution they are meant to make...and take!

Coming this Sunday August 25th, Soul Food Sunday presents...

  • A way of life that you’ve been waiting for.

  • A life where all of your needs are met.

  • A plan to no longer define yourself as rich or poor.

  • An approach that is easier than you thought possible.

  • As revolutionary and Rock & Roll as you are, are you open to more possibilities?

  • Discover how sexy it feels to break the chains of challenges, old habits and addictions.

Peace and Blessings

Rev. Barbara Samuel

LAST WEEK'S TALK

God is Not Watching from the Bedpost, God’s in the Bed

Rev. John DePalma

YES, HE WENT THERE.  Last week Rev. John talked about sex.  In church!

In August, we’ve been talking about the un-status quo, speaking about topics that generally aren’t talked about in a “church.” But in a transformational spiritual community, those are the very things that move us from “religious” to spiritual.  So, yeah – he talked about sex.

If you missed his talk or want to hear it again (and it really is worth it to hear it again) click here:

HOW TO ORDER GALA TICKETS ON YOUR PHONE

We’ve heard from some people that they are unable to purchase tickets to the Gala on their cell phones.  When they click on the Events Link all they see is a blank page.  This is a bug that we’re trying to sort out, but in the meantime, if you just scroll down that blank page – quite a ways – you will get to the Events.

Monday Evenings with Rev. John will be an ongoing, weekly book study you can join in from the comfort of your own home via Zoom.

These weekly sessions will be held from 6:30 - 8:00pm, providing opportunity to explore and discuss a selection of books, each of which is intended to help us deepen as individuals and as a spiritual community.

These gatherings begin Monday, September 9th with a 10-week exploration of the book, Creating The Beloved Community, by Rev. Dr. Jim Lockard, a well-known and respected leader within the New Thought movement.

This book is available in paper-back or kindle version at amazon.ca. We’ve got copies available for sale on Sundays for $25.00.

While there are no requirements or registration, to get a sense of the cultural changes we aspire to , kindly attend as often as you can!

We'll post the link to the Zoom meeting closer to the event.

Fasten your seat-belts for a different Sunday experience

as we try something new and exciting in the fall

Four Agreements Workshops:

  • Sundays: Sept 15 & 22nd, October 6th, & November 10th.

  • 10:30 am-12:30 pm

  • Studio 9 – 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna BC

Cost:  Gratitude Offering

For these four Sundays, we’ll be extending our Sunday Service time to 2-hours (10:30-12:30) as Rev. John DePalma offers a hybrid Sunday service/workshop on the Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.

This small book outlines four principles for living a meaningful life: to be impeccable with our words, not take things personally, never make assumptions, and always do our best.

Diving deeper into these principles empowers us to make practical application of these simple, yet powerful principles to our lives.
