Awakening to your Passion
— Rev. Melody Bailey
Affirmation
I am an individual creation of life, born with passion!
We all have within us a beautiful quality of joy and energy that makes us unique in the world. We were born with it and as we rediscover our childlike enthusiasm for life, we reveal our God-given passion. This one life is exactly ours to do and to do so less than wholeheartedly deprives the world of our best offerings.
Join Rev. Melody this Sunday, August 6 at 10:30am PT at Studio 9, 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna, BC. Doors open at 10:15am. Please visit the event page for more details and a map. Everyone is welcome!
If you are not feeling well, please take good care of yourself and watch us on Facebook Live.
Community Visioning
After service this Sunday, August 6, we are holding a Community Visioning session. This practice opens us to Spirit's highest idea of the Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend.
Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP.
The SOM theme for August is My Passion, My Purpose. We begin to identify hidden, buried or unexamined passions. We find, then cultivate the connection between passion and purpose. Recognizing the challenges of being human, in a culture and world that often judges mistakes or imperfections negatively, we explore how to foster more self-acceptance. We boldly step into our passions and purpose, bringing them into the world to shine our light, as we live out loud!
This Week’s Science of Mind Theme
Awakening to your Passion
One way to discover our passion is to substitute the word Joy. What brought you joy as a child?
We are all unique expressions of the One Mind. We were born with qualities that enhance and expand Spirit through our individual lives. Within each person is a Divine spark, waiting to be realized and ignited by our awareness of It.
“Adulting” has become a catchword for doing the responsible thing and taking care of business. This has often overshadowed a childlike wonder of life. Think back to early childhood and remember what used to make your heart sing.
Early passions and purposes were sometimes suppressed by being told to be practical. Others’ opinions can be entertained, but not to the point of overriding our own inner calling.
Many successful adults have credited their achievements to an activity that they naturally loved as a child. Remember your early joys that were ignited through imagination and play. As you let go of self-conscious thoughts, you can reclaim your inner passion and begin the momentum of expanding into your purpose.
The Standing Stones
Last weekend, Rev. Barbara Samuel gave a talk titled The Standing Stones.
She was joined by musician, Nathen Aswell.
Rev. Melody Bailey shared an affirmative prayer.
Nathen sang songs that invited audience participation!
These spiritual aerobics involved making a Y-shape whenever we sang "Yes!"
We're incredibly grateful for the musical talent we receive at a Sunday service!

“Life will be to you what you are to It. Somehow, you must link your will, your thought, your intellect, your imagination and your feeling with the Divine Presence which is already there.”
