New Year’s Message: Embracing the Beloved Community

As we step into a new year, we are reminded of the boundless possibilities that lie ahead -opportunities to grow, to transform, and to build something extraordinary together.

This year, let us commit ourselves to the vision of the beloved community: a world where extraordinary respect, compassion, safety, and accountability form the foundation of our shared lives.

The beloved community calls us to recognize our interconnectedness. It invites us to honour the inherent dignity of every individual while embracing the diversity that makes us stronger. It challenges us to look beyond divisions and instead, to build bridges of understanding, love, and cooperation.

I must share how deeply amazed I am by the love and support I’ve received from this community in just six short months. The creativity, care, and passion here inspire me every day.

I’m so excited about the ideas bubbling up in conversations and the energy within this extraordinary community as we venture into a brand-new year.

Together, we are poised to create something truly remarkable—a future rooted in connection and purpose. Transformation starts within - by cultivating respect for our own journey, compassion for our imperfections, and accountability for the intentions we set.

From this place of inner harmony, we can radiate outward, inspiring others to join in this sacred work.

As we embody these values, we create spaces of safety where truth can be spoken, vulnerabilities shared, and differences celebrated.

This New Year, may we strive to be both the architects and the living expressions of the beloved community. Each small step we take ripples outward, transforming lives and inspiring people to make a positive difference in the world!

Happy New Year! I am honoured to share this journey with you. Together, we are building the beloved community. Let’s make this year one of profound growth, shared joy, and enduring love!

With deep appreciation and great love,

Rev. John DePalma

Unlock the Power of Mind and Word:

A Transformative Talk by Rev. John DePalma

Discover the profound connection between our thoughts, words, and the reality we create in this inspiring talk, The Creative Power of Mind and Word.

Drawing from the timeless wisdom of Ernest Holmes’ The Science of Mind and Don Miguel Ruiz’s The Four Agreements, Rev. John explores the creative process of universal principles that empower us to align our inner and outer worlds.

In the first introductory chapter of the Science of Mind text, Holmes describes The Thing Itself as the infinite creative intelligence of the universe, actively shaping our life through our thoughts and beliefs.

This divine essence responds to our mental patterns, making us  co-creators of our experiences. Ruiz complements this understanding with his first agreement: Be Impeccable with Your Word. He reminds us that our words are not just expressions but powerful tools that shape our relationships, perceptions, and opportunities.

In this engaging and practical talk, we’ll learn how to:

  • Recognize the creative potential of our thoughts and words.

  • Shift negative patterns into affirmations of possibility and truth.

  • Use words to build connections, foster growth, and manifest our highest good.

  • Align with the principles of love, integrity, and authenticity to transform our lives.

Whether you’re seeking deeper self-awareness, better communication, or greater harmony in your daily experiences, this talk provides actionable insights and empowering practices.

By cultivating impeccable thought and word alignment, you’ll unlock the keys to a life of purpose, creativity, and joy.

Join us for The Creative Power of Mind and Word and step into the role of conscious creator, embracing a life of beauty, connection, and infinite potential.

VISION BOARD WORKSHOP

with Rev. Melody Bailey

Start the New Year with a New Vision

Sunday, January 5th, after service until approximately 3:00 pm

DO YOU WANT TO CREATE THE LIFE YOU WANT TO LIVE? Do you want to let your inner child out and have some crafty, intentional fun?

If so, join us for a Vision Board Workshop where we will focus on all four quadrants of life: Creativity (work, play); Health (spiritual, mental, emotional, physical); Loving Relationships and Abundance.

Supplies will be provided but if you have specific pictures cut out from magazines or printed that you wish to bring with you and include, please do so.

The workshop is on Sunday January 5th following our Sunday service, from approximately 12 noon until 3 pm.  If you’re staying after service, please bring a lunch that doesn’t require extra preparation.

We will take some time for a bite to eat before beginning the workshop.  There will be a sign-up sheet at Sunday service and an RSVP on our website as we do need to know numbers to prepare.

Invitation: Okanagan Multi-Faith Assembly

Upcoming Opportunities in 2025

"So powerful is the Light of Unity that it can illuminate the whole world." ~ Bahá’u’lláh

In this sometimes-divisive world, learning from one another and standing together as Communities of Faith is powerful.

The first four assemblies have been deeply enriching, demonstrating, at the heart of it, how much faith communities have in common. The intention of these gatherings is to learn more about the diverse faith traditions who call the Okanagan home.

Our Multi-Faith connection and learning continues in the New Year!

We hope you join us for these enriching opportunities:

Buddhist Community Gathering

Date: Saturday, January 11th, 2025

Baha’i Community Presentation (Repeat Session)

Date: Saturday, February 15th, 2025

During these gatherings, you’ll experience:

  • A 30-minute presentation

  • An opportunity for questions and answers

  • A social period with beverages and desserts

These events typically conclude in under two hours.

If you’re interested in attending, please contact Rev. Corinne Crockett at corinne_crockett@telus.net for further details.

Secret Santa Success

Just a few of the many families you helped support in Kenya this Christmas.

Thanks to the incredible support of our spiritual community, and donations from many people outside of our community, CSL Kenya will feed 225 families in Kenya this Christmas! It’s amazing!

Rev. Barbara Samuel and her team worked tirelessly over the past few weeks and thanks to their hard work and your generosity, they exceeded their goal.  They extend gratitude and thanks for everyone who worked on the campaign, and to everyone who donated.

Rev. Barb will provide more details in her talk later this month.
