“Why Uncle Bob is So Cranky All the Time:
Unlocking the Mystery with Spiral Dynamics”
with Rev. John DePalma
THIS SUNDAY: SPECIAL TWO-HOUR WORKSHOP
Ever wonder why some people seem stuck in their ways, like cranky Uncle Bob who just can’t see things from a different perspective? Or why others embrace change and new ideas with open arms?
The answer lies in Spiral Dynamics, a groundbreaking framework that reveals how humans grow, think, and evolve through stages of consciousness.
Join us for this engaging, revealing, and interactive 2-hour workshop, where we’ll dive into the hidden patterns behind behaviour, beliefs, and conflict. With insights from Rev. Dr. Jim Lockard’s book, “Creating the Beloved Community” and “Bruce Sanguin’s, “The Emerging Church,” we’ll explore how these developmental stages show up in our families, communities, and even within ourselves.
You’ll discover:
✅ Why people like Uncle Bob resist change (and how to respond with compassion).
✅ The levels of consciousness that shape how we see the world.
✅ How to foster understanding and growth in your relationships and community.
This workshop isn’t just about understanding—it’s about transforming. Together, we’ll learn how to create a more inclusive, vibrant, and harmonious life and community by applying the wisdom of Spiral Dynamics.
Bring your curiosity, your questions, and maybe even your crankiest “Uncle Bob” stories. Let’s unravel the mystery of human behaviour and build bridges where walls once stood.
Please print this handout and bring it to Sunday Service, along with a pen or pencil:
Come for the laughs, stay for the insights. Transform your perspective—and maybe even your Uncle Bob’s!
Join us at Studio 9 (1180 Houghton Rd, Kelowna, BC V1X 2C9). Doors open at 10:15am. Enter the property by the side entrance behind the staff parking lot. Look for our signs to guide you! Please use street parking or park at Ben Lee Park (1.5 blocks away).
Or you can always watch our live stream on Facebook Live via Centre for Spiritual Living Kelowna's Facebook page.
After the service, you can find all talks on our YouTube channel.
Last Sunday's Service
I’m Not Afraid of The Dark (Anymore)
Rev. Barbara Samuel
When we combine Holmes’ understanding of thought as a creative force with Ruiz’s call to action through doing our best, we begin to live in harmony with the Divine flow of life.
We realize that the universe is not working against us - it’s working through us. Every thought, every action, every moment becomes an opportunity to create a life of meaning and purpose.

Kindness Week

At CSL Kelowna, we’re all about transforming lives and inspiring people to make a positive difference in the world. We have a fun activity planned to help us do just that.
February 9 – 15 is Kindness Week with Valentine’s Day nestled along with it. In celebration of both, we’ve decided it will be fun to offer a Kindness Kampaign to our Beloved Community and YES, chocolate may be involved.
Our Kindness Kampaign, led by Loanne Macdonald, offers our community the opportunity to participate in SIMPLE Random Acts of Kindness (RAK). Following service on Sunday, February 9th, you’ll be invited to pick up a Valentine treat bag or box holding a suggestion for your Random Act of Kindness, kinda like a fortune cookie.
Your RAK is to be performed at some point during the following week. There is no limit to the number of times you can perform your kind act. You might love the feeling you get from performing these simple acts so much, enjoying the responses you receive, that you want to do it again and again.
We’ll provide opportunity to share your experiences so they can be shared for all to enjoy.
You’ll want to be at Service, Sunday, February 9th to pick up your Kindness Box and participate in the fun.
Love and Blessings
Loanne Macdonald
