Balancing Grief and Joy

— Rev. Corinne Crockett

I now release all that no longer serves me and I choose to embrace joy.

Grief is an unavoidable emotion we all go through at some point in our life. We do not only experience grief when we lose someone dear to us; other life situations can cause grief as well. To embrace self-care in trying times, it is imperative to understand how to surf through the water of grief to joy.

Join Rev. Corinne this Sunday, June 11 at 10:30am PT at Studio 9, 1180 Houghton Road, Kelowna, BC. Doors open at 10:15am. Please visit the event page for more details and a map. Everyone is welcome!

If you are not feeling well, please take good care of yourself and watch us on Facebook Live.

This Week’s Science of Mind Theme

Balancing Grief and Joy

Grief has the power to lead your mind to entertaining negative thoughts. Grief itself is neither good nor bad, yet it is an emotion that must be attended to. Grief may cause feelings of low self-esteem, regret and confusion. Trying times serve as growth.

Grief can be the messenger that catapults you into the next level of your greater yet-to-be. It is important to be with grief; don’t try to push it away, ignore it, or pretend it is not there by getting busy.

Joy and grief seem like opposites, but they can co-exist. The loss you are grieving for can be the opportunity to gain or experience something new, better, and greater. Every time you feel grief, it is important to give joy some space to enter into your mind, body, and soul.

Evolution of Self-Care

Last weekend, Rev. Melody Bailey gave a talk titled Evolution of Self-Care.

It was a lovely, sunny day in Kelowna! Volunteer greeter Angela had a moment to chat with Neal and Jean.

Rev. Corinne Crockett (joined by Rev. Melody Bailey, Rev. Diane Hockey and Rev. Barbara Samuel) led an affirmative prayer treatment before the service.

Rev. Barbara Samuel and Neal Klassen provided the music.

Rev. Diane was the presider.

Rev. Barb invited Daniel onto the stage to sing "You are the Face of God".

Volunteer Trish made the coffee and brought cookies into the auditorium.

People stayed to enjoy the after-service social time.

Watch the full service on YouTube.
