IT’S AUTUMN, AND THE LEAVES ARE STARTING TO CHANGE!  And speaking of change, the book “The Four Agreements” by don Miguel Ruiz, offers a powerful code of conduct that can rapidly transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, true happiness, and love.  Join us this Sunday, October 6th, for another special two-hour workshop as Rev. John DePalma leads us through the third agreement: Don’t Make Assumptions.

Sunday October 6, 10:30-12:30

DON’T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS

The Third Agreement with Rev. John DePalma

ARE YOU AWARE that almost everything you tell yourself is an assumption? Humans have a powerful imagination, very powerful, and there are so many ideas and stories we tell! Would clarity be helpful?

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

Everything we do is based on agreements we have made, often unconsciously - agreements with ourselves, with other people, with God, and with life. But the most important agreements are the ones we make with ourselves.

Making new agreements, practicing a new way of being, supports us in creating a life of happiness, peace and joy.

When your attention is in the present moment, you enjoy life more intensely because you are fully alive. Use your will and attention. You choose to believe what you want to believe, and that includes believing in yourself.

Use The Four Agreements to change your actions–reactions. Every choice you make has a consequence or result. When you change the action, you change the result, and you change the dream of your life.

Join us as we explore the 3rd agreement, “Don’t make assumptions”

Sunday Oct 6 10:30-12:30

All you need to bring is an open mind and heart and a willingness to change your thinking!

You may also want something to write with and paper. If you're following the workshop from home, or doing it after the live stream, you can print the following document:

If you missed the first two workshops, you can access the recordings here:

The First Agreement: Be Impeccable With Your Word

The Second Agreement: Don't Take Anything Personally

Last Sunday’s Talk

PUTTING THE PEACES TOGETHER

With Rev. Barbara Samuel

When it feels like everything is falling to pieces, how can you find more Peace?  When we are confused and asleep in the illusion of separation, there is no Peace in our world.

During last Sunday’s Soul Food Sunday, Rev. Barbara Samuel explored: What is Peace? How to cultivate Inner Peace, Peace with others, Peace in community, and Peace on Earth--and truly put the “Peaces” together to Rise Up and BE the Peace we want to see in the world.

We also learned in Science Corner that the Peace Sign is made up of two semaphores, the letters N and D, surrounded by a circle that represents the earth. The N and D stand for "Nuclear Disarmament," which was the symbol's original meaning.

Semaphore for the Letter N

Semaphore for the Letter D

Put them together in a circle and you have....

...THE PEACE SIGN!

Monday Night Book Study Continues

With Rev. John DePalma

Creating the Beloved Community… Update!

We had a great meeting Monday night again with lively discussion about what it’s gonna take to create the Beloved Community!

Next Monday we’ll be diving into Chapter 4 “Cultural Transformation”

“Is evolution a theory, a system, or a hypothesis? It is much more: it is a general condition to which all theories, all hypotheses, all systems must bow and which they must satisfy henceforward if they are to be thinkable and true. Evolution is a light illuminating all facts, a curve that all lines must follow.”

~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, S.J.

The evolution of consciousness has brought us to this point but is not sufficient to evolve further.

Everyone is welcome to join in what promises to be an interesting conversation about the map and path moving forward!

I invite and encourage you to read the introduction and Ch 1 - Chapter 4 to get a sense of what’s possible in the Beloved Community, so you can be fully engaged.

When logging in make sure your name and video are on so we can get to know one another a little better. This can be especially helpful for me as the newbie in our community, to help me connect names with faces!

Also remember you can interact with chat and by using the “raise your hand” icon in the reaction drop down. I look forward to seeing you all Monday night!, from 6:30 to 8:00!

Here is the Zoom Link for the evening:

Monday Nights with Rev. John is a 10-week exploration of the book, Creating the Beloved Community, by Rev. Dr. Jim Lockard, a well-known and respected leader within the New Thought movement.

If you don’t have the book, you can join anyway, but your experience of these sessions will be enhanced through reading the book.

This book is available in paper-back or kindle version at amazon.ca.

New Series: World Religions

This month we begin a new series: World Religions.  Approximately every month we’ll look at one of the many world religions such as Baháʼí, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and others. The goal is to understand the beliefs, practices, and teachings of each religion.  This month, we look at the Baháʼí faith.

Okanagan Multi-Faith Assembly

“So powerful is the Light of Unity that it can illuminate the whole world.”

~ Bahá’u’lláh

In this sometimes-divisive world, standing together as Communities of Faith is powerful. CSL Kelowna is a foundational member of the Okanagan Multi-Faith Community.

The intention of the Okanagan Multi-Faith Committee is to gather with the intention of promoting understanding, brotherhood, and support between faiths.

What is Baháʼí?

The Baháʼí Faith is a religion founded in the 19th century that teaches the essential worth of all religions and the unity of all people. Established by Baháʼu'lláh, it initially developed in Iran and parts of the Middle East.  The religion is estimated to have 5 to 8 million adherents, known as Baháʼí’s, spread throughout most of the world's countries and territories.

The  Baháʼí Faith teaches that all religions come from the same source and that all people are equal, regardless of their race, gender, or nationality. It's a peaceful and inclusive religion that promotes unity and diversity.

According to Baháʼí teachings, religion is revealed in an orderly and progressive way by a single God through Manifestations of God, who are the founders of major world religions throughout human history.

Some of these founders include Krishna, Moses, Buddha, Jesus, and Muhammad, who are cited as the most recent of these Manifestations of God. Those of Baháʼí faith regard the world's major religions as fundamentally unified in their purpose, but divergent in their social practices and interpretations.

The Baháʼí Faith stresses the unity of all people as its core teaching and as a result, it explicitly rejects notions of racism, sexism, and nationalism. At the heart of Baháʼí teachings is the desire to establish a unified world order that ensures the prosperity of all nations, races, creeds, and classes.

HOW TO ORDER GALA TICKETS ON YOUR PHONE

We’ve heard from some people that they are unable to purchase tickets to the Gala on their cell phones.  When they click on the Events Link all they see is a blank page.  This is a bug that we’re trying to sort out, but in the meantime, if you just scroll down that blank page – quite a ways – you will get to the Events.
