IN 1971, JOHN LENNON SANG, Power to the People to express his political beliefs at the time.  It wasn’t exactly a peace anthem – it was more like a call for workers to rise-up, to “get on your feet and into the street.”  This Sunday’s message from Rev. Diane Hockey promises to be a little more peaceful, more like, “Get on your feet and treat!” Make sure you “rise-up” Sunday morning to join us at Studio 9 for Rev. Diane’s inspirational talk.

Sunday October 13, 10:30 - 11:30

POWER TO THE PEOPLE

Rev. Diane Hockey

The 2024 Global Theme for Centers for Spiritual Living is A Grand Rising, and the monthly theme for October is Power to the People.

We hear much talk about shifting to clean power that doesn’t pollute our world. Can we do the same with our relationship to our personal power? Let’s explore what inner clean power feels like.

A great starting point is the following affirmation:

“I go within to connect with my Source of Power.”

Clean power supports creating the life you want to experience. It originates within and through us as integrity, accountability, and being true to our values.

Let’s know this truth by affirming:

“I stand in my Power as a Presence for Good.”

A Grand Rising with power begins within us. We do our inner work to create a relationship with our inner power that supports us.

As we forgive and heal our inner relationship with power, we take the next step in rising by how we express our personal power.

This step asks us to release our hidden agendas. We begin to express our power with integrity and authenticity. Power expressed in this manner supports and draws those around together in support of shared causes and ideas.

Coming together in our authentic power multiplies what we can do. The difference for Good we can make as a group, community, and more is expanded… to express our power.

Last Sunday’s Workshop

DON'T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS

with Rev. John DePalma

OUR COMMUNITY WAS BUZZING WITH ANTICIPATION last Sunday morning as we got ready for the third in a series of four workshops on The Four Agreements.

Humans have a powerful imagination and there are so many ideas and stories we tell! The workshop helped us find the courage to ask questions and to express what we really want... how to communicate with others as clearly as we can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, we can completely transform our lives.

Let the anticipation build for when Rev. John shares the Fourth Agreement, Always do Your Best, on November 17th

If you missed it, you can watch all the workshops by following the links below.

The First Agreement: Be Impeccable With Your Word

The Second Agreement: Don't Take Anything Personally

The Third Agreement: Don't Make Assumptions

You can download and fill out the form from the Third Workshop below:

Monday Night Book Study Continues

With Rev. John DePalma

Monday, October, 6:30-8:00 pm

We had a great meeting last Monday night again, with lively discussion about what it’s gonna take to create the Beloved Community!

Next Monday we’ll be diving into the rest of Chapter 4 “Cultural Transformation” (ended pg.50)

“The primary motivators of people are the needs of the psychological stage they are inhabiting. The secondary motivators of people are the unmet needs of the psychological stages they have passed through.”

~ Richard Barrett, Barrett Values Systems

The evolution of consciousness has brought us to this point but to evolve further we must develop the willingness to go deeper.

Everyone is welcome to join in what promises to be an interesting conversation about the map and path moving forward!  I invite and encourage you to read the introduction and Chapters 1 to Chapter 4 to get a sense of what’s possible in the Beloved Community, so you can be fully engaged.

When logging in make sure your name and video are on so we can get to know one another a little better. This can be especially helpful for me as the newbie in our community, to help me connect names with faces!

Also remember you can interact with chat and by using the “raise your hand” icon in the reaction drop down. I’m looking forward to seeing you all Monday night!

Here is the Zoom Link for the evening:

Monday Nights with Rev. John is a 10-week exploration of the book, Creating the Beloved Community, by Rev. Dr. Jim Lockard, a well-known and respected leader within the New Thought movement.

If you don’t have the book, you can join anyway, but your experience of these sessions will be enhanced through reading the book.

This book is available in paper-back or kindle version at amazon.ca.

THE FIRST CANADIAN THANKSGIVING

Thanksgiving has been officially celebrated as a holiday in Canada since 1879.

According to some historians, the first celebration of Thanksgiving in North America actually occurred two centuries before that, in 1579 after the safe landing of Martin Frobisher's fleet in Newfoundland following an unsuccessful attempt in search of the Northwest Passage.

The expedition was plagued by ice and freak storms, which at times scattered the fleet; on meeting again at their anchorage in Frobisher Bay they celebrated Thanksgiving*.

Whether you’re celebrating in Frobisher Bay or the Okanagan Valley, we hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend.
